May I use gelatin instead of pectin to make jelly?

Made my first jelly with my own grapes. Used pectin. Turned out fine. Being the end of the summer, I had to actually go to 6 supermarkets before I found some pectin. Is there any reason I can’t use gelatin instead? I’ve never heard of using gelatin for jelly but why not. Gelatin (Jello) will turn to liquid when it rewarms up but Jelly doesn’t. Would that be the only reason. I can use less sugar with Gelatin. Can’t find the low sugar pectin around and Pomona pectin is twice as expensive.
