Cal Poly Pomona VS UC Merced?

I live 5 mins away from Cal Poly Pomona so I would be able to live at home if I went to Cal Poly Pomona, is UC Merced that much better than Cal Poly Pomona? My goal is to attend for two years and hopefully transfer to cal tech.

    definitely Cal Poly, its a really good school and you’ll love it there
