What would you say is the best place to live in California for a university student?

First of all, I want to major in History so that I can then go to law school. Right now I am at a community college in Texas doing my basics. I want to go to California for college but I don’t know what city or university.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I’d like to be farther to the south. Around Pomona or San Diego but I want to know want are the best places to live in that are big cities.
I don’t want any more suburbs.

    The area and the area where am not too suburb in fact great historical heritage and many blessings.
    For yourself good luck and decide for yourself good luck and the reason suggest orange ca not too suburb in the reason suggest you look up this college and the historical heritage and the historical heritage and many blessings.

    The home of thomas jefferson school whereas sdsu isnt but it totally depends on your preference san diego.
